100 Women Drumming: a Ritual Theatre Ceremonial Experience by Drum Temple

On Sunday, May 18, through ceremonial djembe drumming, chanting, song, dance, and tea, let us come together as women in life and death, holding each other in ceremony and deep experiencing.

100 women will gather together to drum and remember our birthright as the original drummers and oracles🪘✨.

And as she fell to the floor and crumbled, she met herself through the deaths--all 7 of them. May we channel the energy of Goddess Inanna of Ancient Sumer in the first full ritual theatre creation and primal drumming experience by Drum Temple, Women's Primal Drumming: The Angel of Death and Rebirth.

This has never been done before in this way by Drum Temple. Let us be the torchbearers as we bring the expression of myth through ritual theatre to Miami.

One month ago, 13 women gathered to embody the Goddess of Inanna as she descends into the underworld, meeting herself in her death and again through the blinding white light of her Heavenly rebirth. We drummed, danced, crawled, screamed, sang, and became in beautiful ceremony.

Join us as we recreate this experience in a room of women so powerful the walls shake and women across the world hear our roar.

It is said that Inanna asked her servant Ninshubur to arrange for all the villagers to drum to call her back to life if she remained trapped in the underworld, and after we allow the old, crumbled parts of us to wither, die, and fall off, we will do the same, calling ourselves back to vibrant life from within.

May we as women reconnect to our birthright as drummers and heal through deep love and the unknown of the void. With vocal activation, primal movement, personal expression, and primal drumming, we remember the power we hold to impact change in our own lives and in the world.

We begin with a ceremonial procession to be marked and guided. Bring your shamanic drums.

We then move into tea, meditation, centering, and softening.

Gentle movement will then stir our hearts and bodies, and pump our blood as primal ferocity takes hold.

Bring your djembe drums--you will rent one if you do not own--for the drumming begins.

Open your throats and voices, soften to allow the song of your soul and womb to come to be.

May we mix our own medicine and become a potion for life. Prepare your vessel.
