Original Event Description:
You are invited to be part of a sacred short film, the theme of which -- SHE WHO HEALS -- came to me, Katie, with the energy of, "THE WORLD IS READY TO KNOW -- show them."
And so we will.
On the evening of April 26th, a circle of women will gather in Miami to participate in a ceremonial filming experience — a real, living ritual captured on camera inspired by the energy of the CURANDERA.
This is an experience to help raise the collective vibration through RITUAL THEATRE, one of the highest expressions of the feminine muse.
If this is you, read on.
The experience consists of primal drumming, altar building, embodied movement, & ritual held as the sun sets and the the fire is lit. The art we create here will be shared with the world as our sacred, cinematic offering.
WE ARE ALSO HERE TO SHOW THE WORLD THE WAY OF THE CURANDERA.
Our evening will be unrehearsed and we will be creating from rawness as we read the energies present that evening (with a loose structure in mind). You will be fully in ceremony — and the camera will simply be part.
No experience is necessary -- only heart and alignment.
AYIIIIIIIIIIIII
WHAT IS RITUAL THEATRE?
It is a living art form that predates the stage, the screen, and the written word — stretching back thousands of years to when women gathered in circle to create, to invoke, to transform. We're talking priestesses communing with purpose. It's important art brought to life through our expression.
In stepping into this experience, you become part of this lineage. And this time, we are inspired by the CURANDERA.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE
Intimate primal drumming and vocal activation. Movement medicine. Deep ritual. All held together in the spirit of expansion, open-heartedness, and the deepening of sisterhood bonds.
We will wear blood reds and the deep, grounding colors of mother earth as we move through the evening together — building altar, dropping into the drum, and following the thread of the curandera's medicine wherever it leads.

THE HEART OF IT
At the center of this experience is the drum. This is a Drum Temple experience — and drumming is its pulse. Katie Berns Lee will guide the circle through primal drumming ritual using the djembe and shamanic drums, calling us back to the primordial pulse at the core of all life. We will have room for primal harnessing and deep expression through voice, body, and soul.
Woven through the rhythm, Valentina Parra Silva will offer embodied muse movement — amplifying what arises and giving it shape and form.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Art has always been humanity's answer to darkness. In times of uncertainty and shadow, it is the artists, the ceremonialists, the drummers and the dancers who rise — not to escape the dark, but to meet it. To play with it. To alchemize it into something luminous and alive. Hellooooo every Drum Temple experience??
Let us make a statement together. This is how we rise up -- in art and aligned LIVING.
A CASTING CALL
This gathering is also an invitation to be seen. If you feel the call of the curandera — if this path of healing, ceremony, and feminine medicine is yours — step forward. The women who gather here will be the faces and the heartbeat of this film, and of the larger vision being called into being.
Beginning around 6:30 PM, cinematographer Nkosi will join us to capture what has already been set in motion — documenting this circle of women, this medicine, this moment in time.
This is a collaboration amongst Katie Berns Lee of Drum Temple, Luz Duque, and Valentina Parra Silva.
