About the event

Rhythm & song are the original tools of our ancestors that kept them aligned, grounded, & in reverence to the natural world.

Babatunde Olatunji says that when we forget that rhythm is everywhere, problems arise.

So it's time we return to this devotional practice for the best and highest good...for ourselves and our natural world.

In this potent drop-in, you will re-open your voice and reclaim your inner rhythm — returning to the energy of the ancients through the living traditions of music and ancestral sound.

We will:

Open the voice & reconnect to rhythm through activation & seriousss play

Connect to the primal voice & our true nature

Embody our truths

Learn body percussion techniques to cultivate inner pulse

Regulate your nervous system and spirit

Drum & sing together as one

Receive guiding techniques to carry you forward

Freestyle through mouth percussion and lyric magic

Instructors:

Katie (K'hatya) of Drum Temple is a primal hand-drummer, songstress, musician, activator, connector and creator who draws from the primordial cave realms.

She believes that rhythm activates vibrational messages from our body and soul—so let us use it to communicate the messages coming through us during times of great responsibility and transformation.

Through her music and spiritual practice and study, Katie connects deeply to indigenous and ancient cultures from West Africa, Latin America, Mongolia, the Middle East, and folk America, and her mission encourages a return to original ways of feeling, expressing, and being as stewards of this Earth.

This is remembrance of heart song that you inherently know how to sing, that you are learning to tap into - to build a bridge with ancestry to access voice."

Katie:

"Rhythm saved my life as an adult, and signaled to me that it was safe to exist as a child.

Before that, I felt as if I could not hear and feel on this planet.

It is our RESPONSIBILITY to return to the Primordial Pulse within through these sacred "boomerangs" so we can alchemize the deepest suffering on this planet and bring humanity back into the light."
