Rhythmic In-BodimentDjembe & Body Workshop
Sunday, February 22 | 2:00–3:30 PM
The Sageuary · Miami, Florida
Rhythmic In-Bodiment is a workshop of the body and the djembe drum—a spacious afternoon of rhythm, movement, play, and integration. It is an invitation to attune ourselves to the primordial pulse within, the original rhythm that lives beneath thought and language.
Let’s learn to speak the language of rhythm TOGETHER.
Through the ancient voice of the djembe, we reconnect with rhythm as a living, embodied language—one that helps us come back into relationship with ourselves and with those around us. This experience weaves technique with sensation, ceremony with practicality. We will explore core rhythms inspired by West African traditions, ancestral pathways of learning, and how drumming has long served as medicine for healing, communication, and remembrance.
Rather than learning rhythm only with the mind, we learn through the body—so the rhythm can be lived, carried, and shared beyond the circle.
In this workshop, we will:
Open the body through primordial pulse practices and gentle tai chi
Learn proper djembe technique and foundational rhythms
Explore breathing and movement techniques that complement drumming
Move through rhythmic embodiment of the cosmic pulse within
Freestyle and play with our VOICES and DRUMS
Learn practical ways to bring drumming into everyday life for transformation
This is how rhythm is inherited—not through words alone, but through the body and the drum. This is how the information lives on, shared hand to hand, heart to heart, with our brothers and sisters, so it may continue to be passed forward.
All levels welcome. No prior drumming experience required.
Rent a djembe from us or bring your own.
