Before there were churches, there were temples. Before there were wars, there were mothers. And before the men drummed, the women were the drummers.

She who carries oils, tends sacred waters, & revives the heartbeat through the drum – these are the ancient priestesses who hold the mysteries of birth, death and rebirth in their bodies.

These past few months, the Ritual Goddesses of Drum Temple have been gathering in rehearsal and ritual to remember these ways. On December 12th, we offer what we’ve received as an actualized expression prayer: a ritual performance of drumming, dance, voice and ceremony that tells the untold herstories of Mary and the priestesses who walked before and beside her.

Who Are the Ritual Goddesses?

The Ritual Goddesses of Drum Temple are a group of women who pray through the drum, ritual, the voice and the body. We walk the priestess path as she comes into the drum, intentional movement, song, myth and ceremony.

Through the embodiment of a chosen story The Divine Mother: The Untold Herstories of Mary & the Priestesses, a circle of women from all around came together to study and bring this to life. Together we share the alchemy from our time together becomes the “performance.”

At the center of it all is Drum Temple’s mission: to bring us home to the primordial pulse & the deepest truth.
